Terms of Service

• •You must be at least 13 years old.
• •If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms on your behalf.
• •One person per account. Keep your Google account secure; you are responsible for what happens on your Kostry account.
• •You may not use Kostry if we have banned you before.

You keep ownership of what you write.

By posting on Kostry you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, display and distribute your content, and to adapt its format (for example excerpts in link previews, feeds and search results), in order to run and promote Kostry. You also let other users read your content on Kostry and write their own chapters that continue from yours.

This license ends when you delete the content, except for copies in backups while they roll over and content that stays online after you delete your account (see section 3).

You promise that you have the right to post what you post and that it follows these terms.

• •A story’s creator controls its main storyline: they decide which pitches join it, and can archive chapters in it.
• •Continuing someone’s story gives you no rights in their chapters, characters or world outside Kostry, and they get no rights in your chapters beyond these terms.
• •Once another writer has continued your chapter, you can archive it but not delete it, because later chapters depend on it.
• •If you delete your account, the stories, chapters and comments you published stay online as “Anonymous”.

Fiction can explore dark themes, but these lines apply however a post is framed. Do not post or share:

• •Anything you don’t have the rights to, including other people’s writing.
• •Sexual content involving minors, in any form, including fiction.
• •Pornographic or sexually explicit material, or anything that invades someone’s privacy, including their bodily privacy.
• •Harassment, threats, bullying, or content that attacks people for their race, ethnicity, religion, caste, gender, sexual orientation, disability or similar traits.
• •Content that promotes violence or hatred between groups, encourages self-harm, or is otherwise harmful to children.
• •Impersonation of a real person or organisation, or anything that misleads people about where it came from, or presents information you know to be false as fact.
• •Content that promotes gambling or money laundering, or otherwise breaks the law.
• •Content that threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, its friendly relations with other countries, or public order.
• •Spam, malware, scraping or automated access that disrupts Kostry, attempts to get around our security, or ways of evading a ban.

We may remove content, limit features, or suspend or ban accounts that break these terms or the law, or to protect people. We usually tell you why, but we may act without notice when safety or the law requires it. To appeal a decision, email teamkostry@gmail.com.

We don’t review everything before it is posted, and we don’t endorse what users write.

Use the Report option on any story, chapter, comment or profile, or write to our Grievance Officer at teamkostry@gmail.com. We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days. Intimate images shared without consent, and impersonation of that kind, are removed within 24 hours of a complaint.

If you believe something on Kostry copies your work, email teamkostry@gmail.com with:

• •your name and contact details;
• •the work you own;
• •the link to each page on Kostry that copies it;
• •a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised; and
• •a statement that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for them.

We remove the content and tell the person who posted it, who may reply with a counter-notice. Accounts that repeatedly infringe are closed.

You can delete your account at any time in Settings; the Privacy Policy explains what is erased and what stays. We may suspend or close accounts as described in section 5. Sections 2 and 3 (for content that stays online) and 9 to 12 continue to apply after your account ends.

Kostry is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted service. Content is the responsibility of the person who posted it; we don’t verify it.

To the extent the law allows, Kostry is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or goodwill. Because Kostry is free, our total liability for any claim is limited to ₹1,000. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version, and for significant changes we show a notice on the site before they take effect. If you keep using Kostry after that, you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about them. If you use Kostry as a consumer elsewhere, you keep any protections of your local law that cannot be waived.
